Question for a pilot pioner owner

Today i went the try this watch i've been looking forward to for a long time. I really like the look of it, but...

When i tried it, i noticed that the bezel was VERY misaligned with the minutes markers, making the timing function of the bezel useless.

It's a shame since i was about to buy the watch until i saw this. So the question is, was the model i had in hand faulty or is yours also like that?

If the bezel is misaligned you should return it/get it serviced, it's a pretty easy fix but gives you peace of mind

I didn't buy it. I told the seller the bezel was VERY misaligned and she said "you won't use it anyway" 🤣

Do you mean the bezel won't align to a marker in the dial, or that the printed markings on the bezel are misaligned?

Wish you took a pic

The point OP is making is you shouldn't have to pay $895/$995 for a brand new watch, just to be priced to wait additional weeks for someone to fix a detail that should have been caught in Q/C before it reached the AD.

Imagine throwing down for a new iphone and having Apple tell you after you paid that you have to wait a few weeks for them to fix an issue that you caught in the Apple store.

We wouldn't tolerate this in any other aspect of life, yet watch companies treat this as the norm.

I should have! But the arrow on the bezel did not align with the printed minute markings on the dial. And i dont mean a little off, i mean like 50$ walmart watch off :p

This is shameful. 😮

Ok so after looking the internet for an answer it would seem that this bezel is a "48 click" and that it is done on purpose... am i the only one who never heard of a 48 click bezel? 😅

Seems odd to have a 48 click bezel. I’m guessing the pip should line up with the minute markers at 12,3,6,9 but not at any other minutes.

Hard sell tactic…

That sounds very odd, this is my first time hearing it too

Hmm. Interesting. Your post made me dig through a picture I took when I tried on the watch. I thought for sure I’ll get it but when I tried it on, it was just too small for me unfortunately. I did not notice the misalignment.

Here’s a picture of it.

A 48 click bezel is for a GMT bezel. You wouldn't want 120 clicks on a GMT because the company is clearly using a dive bezel with a GMT insert in that case. If you're using a GMT watch, you only have 24 hours on the bezel.

The reason you get 48 clicks instead of 24 is because there are timezones (i.e. in the Himalayas) that are offset by 30 minutes so 48 clicks allows you to truly use the GMT function with any time zone in the world.

I would find another dealer and look at another example of this watch. Maybe the one you saw was a QC miss. I would definitely expect the countdown bezel to be either 60 or 120 clicks. The forum post earlier in the thread refers to Tudor BB GMT, which has a time zone bezel. And I would definitely expect it to line up with the minute markers all the way around.

Also, a timing or countdown bezel is actually pretty useful in everyday life if you know how to use it.

I tried on the 43 Bronze version a few months ago and the version I had seemed aligned. I’m really interested in this piece as well. I love the vintage WWII aesthetic!

I've been interested in this watch for a while, from what I understood the 48-click bezel was a qc issue and hamilton would replace with the correct 60 click bezel. Image of source given by someone in a thread on WUS.

I don’t think the bezel is saupoose to be misaligned but I can tell you the service you received was terrible with the the answer the sales person gave you “ you never going to use it anyway” reading the comments that say it sappose to be that way? Would be the first time I have ever of that. It most likely was faulty.
