Restore Number 2 Done (for now) - The GG-W-113

Over a year ago I purchased a non-running 1982 Military Watch off eBay and posted about it.

Well I finally got it going; I was on a roll after getting the Seiko Baby Monaco Project done.

This watched turned out the be a Hamilton Watch running an ETA 2750. Got to say this old ETA movement was more straight forward than the Seiko 7019A. The benefit of it being mechanical instead of automatic and not having a date complication.

My biggest problem was for some reason I spent most of my time looking for the little spring, jewel, screw, etc ... that happened to get away from me. Made a mental note that my office floor needs to be cleaned in a big way.

Works pretty good but there are couple things that are bothering me.

I ended up putting on new hands which I don't like. They seem very new on a 1982 watch. I did search for old Hands on eBay but couldn't bring myself to pay the asking price so used some hands I had from Watch Modding. I may try and salvage the original Hour and Minute hand later. The original Second hand was stuck, like it was glued on, and took too much damaged during removal.

I'm not happy with the Crown either. I had to make a replacement and it doesn't match the case, https://www.watchcrunch.com/thatguy306/posts/gg-w-113-restoration-progress-7052. Been looking for a used one from a GG-W-113 but so far no luck.

For now I'm done with this one and likely watch restoration until fall. Although, I may take a stab at my Dad's old pocket watch for my Brother before summer brings on other projects.

You are your toughest critic. I noticed none of these things, and even after the mention don't think anything looks wrong at all. I did some watchbuilding kit a while back, and am glad someone else admits how these little bits disappear way more readily than spring bars.

Thanks. I suspect it only bothers me because I really wanted to do the restore so it was as true to the original as possible but damn parts are hard to find for these at least at a price I'm willing to pay.

I'm pretty sure half the time I sink into a restore or mod is spent with me crawling around on my hands and knees with a flashlight and magnet looking for some near invisible part. The fact that I find most of them is somewhat of a miracle.
