I've always been drawn to Zelos watches for their interesting dials. I had picked up a Horizons GMT2 in teal when they were launched in 2020 purely on the basis of the dial. I don't regret that purchase at all, but the watch spends most of it's time in the watch box, and doesn't find itself on my wrist very often. When I do wear it, I find myself staring at the dial, mesmerized by the way that the gorgeous shades of blue play with the light, but the dial is really the only thing that I truly like about the watch.
When Zelos introduced the Blacktip, I was tempted to order the Crimson Red version, but decided against it, figuring that it would likely be similar, being worn only a couple of times per year. Every time I see a photo of that particular dial, I feel a slight tinge of regret that I didn't take advantage of it when I had the opportunity.
I find myself in that same situation once again, with the burnt orange dial for the new Spearfish model. I know that if I were to buy it, it would not be worn on a regular basis, but there is something about the dial that really appeals to me. I'm trying to decide if that appeal is enough to justify the $649 USD launch price.
Should I listen to the analytical voice in my head telling me that the money could be better used elsewhere, or to the emotional voice telling me that I really like the burnt orange dial?

If you have the cash - don’t put yourself in the position to regret later. Worst case you can always sell it if you find you’ve fallen out of love. It’s a pretty gorgeous dial so I am betting it will be highly coveted should you opt to part ways later!

It is indeed. I had hesitated when they were initially announced, and missed out. Every time I saw a photo of this variant, I kicked myself for that hesitation. One day in November I just happened to check the Zelos web site, and they showed 4 in stock, so I pounced on that opportunity. I had to pay the full retail rather than the introductory price, but it's well worth it in my opinion. Not only do I feel that the dial is gorgeous, the fit and finish is quite good, and the watch keeps time within a second per day on the wrist.
