Seiko 5 Brian May Limited Edition

I like and appreciate the design based upon his "Red Special" guitar, but am not sure it's worth the premium Seiko is asking for it to me (not that you couldn't flip it and make money).
I know next to nothing about Brian May, so taking the watch on its own merits I think it's an unusual but nicely balanced design especially the dial. Sure there's a premium, but the design is actually different unlike lots of "limited editions" which are just a tweak to the colours.
Brian May was the first guitarist that I remember hearing, at a very young age.
The design of the face is great, red and black on an unbalanced dial.
BUT, for some reason it's the tie in that kills it for me. If it was their own design as an homage (being the correct use of the word!) and if it wasn't called Red Special then I'd probably be in for it. But I don't know, somehow it feels naff 🤷

He's an astrophysicist that was in that Queen band and AFAIK continues to wear a Louis XIV hairdo.
I have no other comment as I totally don't care about this sort of thing.
I bought this watch last summer from Seiko directly. LOVED the look. It’s tough to see in some pictures, but the dial is textured to look like the body of a guitar, and the lines on the NATO look like guitar strings. I had to send it back, much to my disappointment, after the date wheel became misaligned about three weeks into owning it. It probably was a simple fix, but for the price, I just wanted it to be functional.
I promise you won’t regret this watch though if you get it! It’s super unique and much cooler in-person than the pictures can really capture.
