Go Navy, Beat Army!

This was my first watch over $1k (or right there at it). Back in April 2011, I was back at the Naval Academy visiting my old stomping grounds (where I graduated with the mighty class of 1997). I had liked watches, but I didn’t know anything about them. I had a few Skagen that I wore routinely at that time. When I was in the Midshipmen Store, I saw this and knew I needed it. I called my husband after the purchase for an uncomfortable call (ya’ll know what I mean). He understood the uniqueness of it for me.

When I purchased this watch, I didn’t know anything about quartz vs. automatic. I just liked the watch. Next came my first Omega, and the rest is history which most of you will understand.

Fast forward to 2024. I serendipitously stumbled upon #watchcrunch and this community. I also was able to meet the #ashevillenc watch club and @ccager_05 who got this watch working again for me. I am very happy to have found this community so I don’t seem like a watch obsessed person solo anymore.

Many of you may be thinking that I am posting this because of the #kith x #formula1 release, and that isn’t true. I had actually thought I lost this watch. About a month ago I found it and just got it back from service yesterday. It just lined up for the big races this weekend in Miami.

Thank you for reading and learning more about me. Sometimes watches just mean more…and this is one of them. Now I have my eyes on a few other Naval Academy watches including a #breitling and a mod I commissioned through a friend.

Happy crunching crunchers!

This pictures of me are from April 23, 2011 right after I purchased the watch. I have been documenting my life in digital pictures since 1998, so I usually can find anything.

Anchors away!

I’d take Navy co-branding over a clothing line any day. My dad was a naval aviator, so I’m biased.

Great connection @SpecKTator - I usually don’t call that out, but yes that’s is. I was a swimmer at the Naval Academy and graduated in 1997. Your class year is like your fraternity/sorority. There are a few crunchers in my class on here too.

I am so glad you found us too! Community is what makes our hobby so addicting. It is the story behind the watches that makes it truly amazing!
