My only guess as to why, is because the designers specifically wanted the watch to look mid century, with a big 'ol acrylic. One of the ways to accentuate that is not chamfering the bezel maybe?
I'm not enough of an expert to know other reasons.
The Neptune is that way too. I've never really noticed TBH.
Think the Hydra might be different but, again, I'd have to go look 😅.
