The dread...

As soon as I did it, I knew. I was reaching over my Macbook to retrieve a coffee cup. I quickly glanced at down, to read an incoming email.

SCRKKKKKKK!

I was crestfallen. I looked up to the sky in resignation. Yup, that just happened. Flipped over my wrist...

F&*%!!!!!!!

Now, I usually don't care about scratches on my watches, let alone the bracelet. But this watch...I really, really like this watch.

Needless to say, I've spent the afternoon figuring out how I'm going to fix this.

FML!

I got a massive scratch on the side of my new ECA Calypso. Give it a couple of months and I wouldn’t mind but because it was new I wanted to fix it. I used this

and it worked well. Might be worth giving it a try if that scratch is really bothering you.

This with a combination of scratch pen, it should work out.

Thanks all for the suggestions. My first port of call will be to contact the local Swatch Group repair centre to see if they can source the clip part only. Will keep you posted on progress.

Good catch, on my iPad it looked polished, but absolutely right, keep cape cod cloths away from brushed.

The clasp will always get scratched assuming you wear the watch.

If you polish out every scratch you get you'll wear right through the steel in no time.😀

Enjoy wearing your Mido.

Yeah it is brushed stainless. I think I've landed on a solution. We'll see.

Understood. I guess it was the shock factor of how the scratch came to be, as well as the fact that it's quite an 'ugly' scratch, if that's a thing. Nicks and dings I can handle.

Yes, alternative approach: it's your watch and that is your scratch. The first one is always the toughest (and usually the worst) - how bad would it be if you just accepted it and keep wearing it? If the time comes when you need it to be perfect for someone else, then you can sort that scratch and all the subsequent ones you will make on your adventures with your watch in one go....
