Hi all, first post here so please bear with me. During a recent trip to Paris, I picked up this vintage Junghans I fell in love with. The flea market...

Thank you! Yes, Junghans is indeed German.

Thank you! I feel the same as you, but in this smaller price range I can more easily forgive myself if the purchase had indeed been a mistake

Hello friend, you are considering two great options as your first watch! Wish I would have been as smart back then.ย

Small correction: The smaller LLD actually comes in 36mm vs the Spirit in 37mm. You should also keep in mind the lug-to-lug distance being different in the two of them (the Spiritโ€™s is longer).

I own a BB36 as my daily driver/GADA and am looking to extend my collection either with the LLD or the Spirit.

Iโ€™d say that the Spirit is clearly the more versatile option for you as a 1st watch and also it comes with a solid articulated bracelet vs. the mesh on the LLD.ย
ย

However, I find the dial and case design of the LLD more intriguing, itโ€™s just much more unique imo. Despite the comparably bad lume and the fact that itโ€™s intended to โ€œlook old/vintageโ€ itโ€™s the winner for me at the time of writing this post.

I am a little bothered by the 5 stars on the Spirit (albeit it being personal taste) but agree that it has a much better movement.

All this being said, Iโ€™d also recommend you go for the Spirit.ย
ย

Hope this helps!

Got the same piece recently to mark my sonโ€˜s birth and it is a truly stunning GADA watch! ๐Ÿคฉ Itโ€™s on my wrist day and night which makes my other pieces in the collection certainly quite jealous.. ๐Ÿ˜…

Hi OP,

congrats on getting married! If you really wanna stretch the budget to the 1000โ‚ฌ mark, I highly recommend to take NOMOS into consideration as well.

In Chrono24, their Ludwig and Ludwig Duo models at 33mm can be found below 1K incl. shipping to Spain. These wear rather like true 35mm watches due to the long lugs (there are also other sizes available albeit more expensive).

Like your wife, I am German (actually living in Barcelona!) and am naturally drawn to the clean and minimalist Bauhaus design. Am a proud owner of a Nomos Tangente 33mm (absolutely stunning) and Junghans Max Bill Kleine automatic 34mm with Sapphire crystal (love it).ย
ย

In the past, Iโ€™ve owned the beautiful Mido Baroncelli Heritage III 34mm (there is a 40mm) version as well that I ultimately sold but kinda regret it.

Hope this helps in the process of selecting the perfect watch for your special occasion!ย

Un saludo,
