Seiko World Clock in The Okura Tokyo hotel

Hotel Okura Tokyo was built in 1962, to welcome guest visiting Japan for Tokyo 1964 Olympic games. It was famous for modern Japan architect design. It was renovated and reborn in 2019, as The Okura Tokyo. I had chance to visit the original hotel few years ago, and I liked the beautiful lobby and the world clock from the 1960’s. Today I visited the renovated hotel, and was happy to see the lobby renovated just as same as the old one. I was surprised to see the same Seiko World Clock in the lobby! The staff told me they have renewed the inner module, but the exterior is same as the 1960’s. Since I was visiting Japanese designed hotel today, I wore made in Japan watch, Casio GMW-B5000D-1JF. If I had a Grand Seiko, I think that will also match with the atmosphere of this hotel.

Great photo! I love those interactive clocks. I’d be clicking on random countries like a child if I were there. Thanks for sharing!

Great story and photos! If I ever get to Japan this will be worth checking out.

Love it! That world clock is straight outta the 60s.

Thinking about best GS for it ... maybe this SBGW295 modeled after the first GS 😉

Thanks! I saw the GS website and it said that SBGW295 was modeled based on the GS born in the 1960, so I guess you are right! I think this GS will match perfect with The Okura Tokyo hotel.
