For people yearning for a Grand Seiko, why is spring drive interesting?

For those that are interested in a Grand Seiko, why would you pick spring drive over a high beat mechanical movement or even quartz/normal beat mechanical? I've personally heard that they're quite thick and while more accurate that say a Swiss chronometer, they still don't beat a high performance Quartz such as Grand Seikos own. Any owners and/or prospective owners wanting to chip in? It seems you can't do multiple answer polls so if you wish to vote, just vote for the one that most applies, and clarify in the comments if you wish.

It's all about that smooth sweep

I agreed! It was the main reason for me.

·

None of the above. It be that sweep tho

·

The sweep of the seconds hand is magical

It's worth noting that while they're not as accurate as a HAQ, spring drive movements are still capable of a very high degree of accuracy. I have a Seiko 5R65 in my collection that can maintain a steady +3 seconds a month. That's substantially better than what most average quartz watches are capable of.

Go check some videos of the Sweeping hands, it's mesmerizing

With Spring Drive, Grand Seiko stands alone as the manufacturer capable of showing the moments between the moments.

·

GS is not only Spring Drive. e.g. i got a Highbeat GS.

It’s an amazing accomplishment! If AP or Freddy came up with it people would say it’s the greatest advance in watchmaking since numbers were invented 😁
