Absolutely I don't think anyone needs to be embarrassed in this hobby. Buy what you want and enjoy it! If OP ever loses the passion, hey, he can always sell it for, likely, a pretty nice profit! Win-win.
It's so funny I remember when I was buying Rolexes about 10 or so years ago. You could get them anywhere. I must have gone through a half dozen of them, and eventually sold most of them. Now, as I see the rabid insanity around Rolex prices, I shake my head. I still don't have any driving desire to get a new one but it's amazing how times change in just a few short years.
Anyways, if I were ever to get another Rolex, it'd probably be a GMT. It looks sweet and you can't deny Rolex's quality. Also, I travel a lot, and a GMT watch would be nice to have.
