Reissue of Casio’s First Watch, the Casiotron
After selling out a day after it’s initial launch here in 🇨🇦, I didn’t think I’d have the opportunity to see the new Casiotron in person but luckily we found a shop with a single remaining stock left.
Called to confirm then made the trip to try it on in person. Absolutely loved how it wore but I couldn’t stomach the price tag so we left to grab a Timmies (coffee and donuts) and discuss it with my wife. We started with “yes” for me and “no” for her. But after an hour of crazy, frankly unhealthy, amount of overthinking, the wife and I ended up trading places 😅. She was like we have to run and get it before someone else buys the last piece.
We go back only to find someone else trying it on. My wife exclaimed, “OMG OMG OMG. Sh*t, we should have ran faster!”. I tried to play it cool and said “if we don’t get it then it wasn’t meant to be”. But if I’m being honest, my heart sank a bit haha.
Thankfully, the guy pulled the same “I’ll think about it a bit more.” So when he left, I went in and prompty bought the Casiotron.
Afterwards, my wife and I were joking. Are we lucky we bought it or was the other guy lucky that we ended up saving him some money? 🤪

For that money a decent Oceanus can be had.
But you can treasure it and the memories created with your wife and maybe that is priceless.

You’re probably right 😅. There’s definitely some price gouging going on with this one - at the retail level and more so in the secondary market. Which is quite unfortunate, I ended up rationalizing it bec it’s essentially the price of a metal G-Shock Square and has similar specs too outside of WR.
I agree with you though that a good Oceanus can be had at this price. Hopefully Casio releases a few more simple three-hander Oceanus models, I’d love to add one to my collection.

Nice score. I was in a similar boat and then my local dealer came through for me. Looks like another variant is coming later this year so I guess we would've had another shot at a Casiotron if we had missed out. 🍻

I did see the two-tone leak that was purportedly coming out later. That one looks super good too, I hope they do other 50th anniversary models (especially the A700) like how they did with the 40th anniv G-Shocks 🤞🏻.
