DUNE - The Watch of Many Firsts

My first Christopher Ward watch has arrived and finally fitted to my 7.75" wrist!

The C65 Dune GMT was a love at first sight. At first I was slightly hesitant to it's 38mm case diameter*. So often I've found myself having an affinity to the design of smaller wristwatches but the size was always a barrier. This time, the attraction was too large to dismiss it based on its size.

I'm also usually partial to faux patina but sometimes it works. And it really works here. Another first for me.

Between the creamy desert dial, military green GMT, and naval Trident, it gives me a bit of devil dog [doc] nostalgia. Also my first watch with some green, just in time to celebrate some heritage on St. Patty's day ☘️.

The few things keeping this from being perfect are one: its size (~39mm would be sweet), two: the clasp hinges extend a bit long, and three: the bader bracelet doesn't have polished chamfer unlike the watch case a clasp, odd. Other than that, the fit, feel and finish of the watch is superb. The canvas strap is a great companion strap as well but it is the stiffest strap I've felt and will take some breaking in.

*Also, if someone thinks the watch is too small, the bracelet comes with enough links to accommodate an 8"+ wrist.

It is a great watch, well out of my price range but that doesn't stop me appreciating it. Well done.

Looks great, not too small at all.

I have the black Dune GMT and it's a great watch. Enjoy!

Beauty!

These are great looking watches. I think CW has really carved out a great place in the market for themselves. More importantly I think they make great products.

My Arrakis, my Dune

Congratulations and thanks for showing the difference the change from leather to a bracelet. Helps me in deciding what my next strap would be for my c63 sealander

·

Congratulations lovely #christopherward timepiece 😍🎉

Mine comes Monday!!!!

The spice must flow!

Lovely watch! It's one of several CW watches on my "shopping list" for the future. (together with the Sealander, The Twelve and the Sandhurst)

Is the dial matte? How's the movement performing?

·

That size is prefect on you!

·

Suits the strap better than the bracelet IMHO.

·

I need this

Those were also on my list till the random day I scrolled onto CW and saw this 🤤. It's a white ivory dial (so matte)?

Also I think it's too early to tell performance but it's with a second or so so I can't complain. I wouldn't go off just my example, they state +-20

Yeah, I mostly asked because of the very wide official range they quote. I'm not an accuracy freak, but I'm also not very fond of more that 10 seconds of daily deviation.

I asked about the dial because of this bit in the description of the watch on CW's site:

It also boasts a box-sapphire crystal for an authentic vintage touch, while the lume-heavy sunray dial is legible – day or night. And thanks to its Swiss-made Sellita SW330-2 movement, your Dune has a power reserve of 56 hours.

It says the dial is sunray, but on all the pictures it looks matte - guess they made a mistake in the text.

Thanks for your answers!

It's a genera accuracy l but they should be fairly accurate for the price. I too was worried. Lot of variables involved. So far mine is 👌

I didn't even notice the sunray description but the concave diffraction of light through the crystal to matte dial is more significant than most I own (hard to capture). The watches I adore most have a similar understated affect. This takes the proverbial cake
