My pick for the 1WC would be THIS one:
The GS SBGN003.
Guys, don't get me wrong, but posting a mechanical is all fine and dandy but let's face it: Your beloved piece will be off by one day at the end, you remove it from your wrist, thinking it's the end of the challenge and you'll be left in shambles of shame of how foolishly you lost the challenge...
Hence my pick of the SBGN003 (and because I love that thingy – don't judge). This beast will be off by nothing in that month. You can time your eggs by the second and they'll come out just as granny did them.
Plus, it looks sleek, can go under water (for whatever reason), has a threaded crown and for all you jet-setters out there: it's a flippin' true GMT (that will be off by nothing within that month... and the eggs will be – chef's kiss).
Did I mention that you also have a compass on your wrist and that you won't be robbed blind in any city because it's "just a Seiko"?

I’m glad it’s not me. It’s perfect if grand Seiko added a bracelet worthy of the watch.
Would have bought the blue dial but they discontinued it. No trying to decide if I can live with the hand set on the 029 plus the 4 o’clock crown.

The thing is that the new model line is worse in every regard except for the 200m WR (instead of the 100m, if you need it).
• Crown at 4 with no guards
• Polished case (for a sports watch)
• Not anymore fully lumed
• Date window not framed anymore
• And don't forget that they increased the price nonetheless
But these are just my takes. I would take the SBGN003 or 005 any day over the new models.
