My first real watch was an Invicta Pro Diver. I didn't realize at the time that the Invicta brand was so controversial 😂. I still have that watch. An homage, but at $60 for a decent movement and good QC it is still one of the best value buys I've ever made. My only regret is that I got the hard to turn scallop bezel instead of the coin bezel.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Buy what you like. Don't pay attention to those who say you must have a luxury watch to be a real collector. There are so many interesting designs, movements, and colors out there. If you only buy Rolex, Omega, etc. you are really limiting yourself from all the fun watch collecting can be.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
At this moment...Cartier Santos is the only luxury watch worth the money for me. It's a statement piece that is also simple. There are many other more expensive watches I like, but that is the only one that I feel is a good value which is very important to me when I buy a watch.
