Thoughts on New Citizen Super 8 GMT

Citizen just realeased three new flyer GMT watches that start at $1695 with the gold version limited to 1300 units and at $1795.

Integrated bracelets & textured dials continue! Anyone have thoughts?

Dial and integrated bracelets are nice. But $1800 is quite the big leap for Citizen and starting to get into big boy territory. I own a Seiko SSK GMT and got it for $400. Is the Citizen 4x better?

Integrated bracelets??

I know to less about to have an opinion.

But the look is ok. Especially the golden version seams to have an interesting texture on its dial.

But even it's the higher tier of Citizen, I think to justify the price it should offer an outstanding quality for that price.

They looks great, but most likely will be too big for my wrist

It's a true/traveler GMT for one thing and it's rare to find those below $1k

Ok, fair…I’m not a pilot or a jetsetter so I don’t find the value in a true GMT. I’m not saying other’s won’t. Educate me. What true GMT options are there in the $1500-2000 range and what sets this one apart?

Plenty of models with the same Miyota 9 series GMT movement for under $1000 from micro brands as well as from Citizen's own umbrella through Bulova Wilton for $650.

No doubt with the quality of Series 8 which is top tier in Citizen's lineup, but $1700 for the watch is quite steep. It gets a 9054 movement which is essentially the same as 9075 with higher magnetic resistance to keep up with the Series 8 products. The blue bezel mismatch with the dial on the Pepsi variant is an eyesore.

The 40mm Series 8 can be found for $800 and around, that watch is a good value for an integrated bracelet design but the GMT is definitely worth it at retail.

Nice watches -- WAAAAY too expensive for what they are. My #1wc Zelos with the 9075, offering identical functionality to this watch other than the magnetic resistance was $529.00. An extra $1200 for some additional magnetic resistance is highway robbery.

This is becoming less and less true as the 9075 becomes more widespread.

Here's one that can be had for under $500 (in titanium, no less): https://conteenium.com/product/bauhaus-aviation-automatic-gmt-2868m-5/

Borealis is launching one at the $500 mark: https://www.borealiswatch.com/collections/borealis-estoril-300-gmt

Another integrated bracelet watch, I'm so surprised and excited by this release /s

(I'm suffering from intergrated bracelet fatigue).

·

That's a very punchy price considering how many Oris, Certina and Hamilton watches you could get for similar lower or same price, nice watch just not convinced IMO, nice post though thanks for sharing.
