One Watch for both formals & casual day's under 300$

Hey Guys,

I am looking for your help to decide my next watch purchase which will be best watch for formal & casual both.

I work 5 days a week out of that 4 days are formal wear and 1 day casual still i go out for lunch / dinner or parties on weekend.

Below are my choices and i welcome your thoughts 💬 if any. Even microbrands are fine.

A used Seiko Alpinist gets my vote - tough but handsome, better suited to more formal things than a diver.

But best advice would be buy what you like, but buy used. You'll get much more for your money - check out the forums on Facebook etc.

Good luck 👍🏻

In my experience there are no problems wearing a Seiko diver to a formal function, although my culture in general doesn't take formalwear very seriously (I live in rural Canada). The 5KX line looks handsome whether you get a dive bezel or no bezel.

Orient is slightly better value with the better water resistance, but I personally bought a 5KX just because I like the look better (and I found a good deal, US$200 on eBay). One benefit of the 5KX is that it's the most modded watch in the entire world, so a huge variety of spare parts are available. I damaged my bezel in the second month of wear, but it was easy to find a better-looking and more durable replacement.

I would suggest taking a look at some microbrands. Many of them are offering a lot of bang for your buck; take a look at the Islander Manhasset as one example.

Get a Seiko dresskx. You will have more versitility.

·

Get the Seiko5 Sports…not the one pictured in B. It comes with all the specs but without the dive bezel. Perfect all arounder to dress up or down

Have you thought about smaller brands like Steinhart. Ocean One maybe? Stainless steel, ceramic dive bezel, sapphire crystal, ETA movement, good loom, 300m water resistance, 39mm or 42mm.

Bang for your buck, as a daily wearer, formal or sports, I’d say it’s a solid choice.

San Martin, really a lot of bang for your buck. Or so I've heard. I've got my birthday in a few weeks and I'm really thinking about buying the blue sn0107-g3

Dresskx, polished

Or the even rarer Arabic grey dial dresskx

Will eventually get one myself. Very elegant and still hardy at the same time.

Sure. You might also look at Vaer, Hemel, Axios, Phoibos, or Nth. They all have some nice offerings that would look great in both business formal and business casual situations.
