DARWIL SPECIAL FLAT LUX 66 Ø36mm

This exquisite timepiece, once cherished by my grandfather, has been rejuvenated through meticulous servicing. Crafted in Switzerland during the 1960s, the Darwil Special Flat Lux 66 boasts a sleek black dial adorned with authentic markings. Powered by the esteemed Darwil 7066 (FHF 81) movement, its manual winding mechanism enhances its vintage allure. With a distinct separate seconds hand, this 17-jewel mechanical marvel radiates timeless elegance and sophistication, making it the quintessential accessory for any occasion.

That's a very timeless design. It has aged well.

It makes sense that your grandfather would have a Darwil in Serbia. They were an Italian company that made watches in Switzerland and often marketed them to Eastern Europe. They sold a lot of watches out of Trieste for the Yugoslavian market. (My great grandmother grew up in a village approximately six miles from Trieste in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. She traveled to Trieste exactly one time in her life - to catch the boat to America.)

What a handsome watch. I love a lot of the sleek restrained designs from that era.

Nicely done homework. These watches were exceptionally popular in the former Yugoslavia and were frequently bestowed as anniversary gifts in various factories and companies. Although not pricey, this Darwil holds a special place in my watch collection due to its history and importan man who wore it before me. Thanks for sharing the story about your grandma, did she get one too while waiting for the boat 😊?

Not in 1916, it was a bit before Darwil's time.

I have always appreciated how committed to design Darwil was. They had a look.

I love mine too. My first mechanical watch which I bought of eBay a bunch of years ago.

The caseback might be my favorite (closed) one of all the ones I own.
