My SOTW Collection 2024

Never done one of these before! I figured I start doing a yearly SOTW for my own records. I’m curious crunchers, What would you add/remove if this were your collection? (disregard my personal connection with the watches when you answer that) Description and story for each watch:

My father’s Hamilton 1970s Dateline. Found this while rummaging through some junk. So glad I found it.

Image

GShock 5600ue. Needed a G in my collection and decided to go for a square.

Image

Tudor Black Bay 58 - my favorite watch. My first big boy purchase at my local AD. Got it without the bracelet as I was fond of the Nato. Currently on an Artem strap.

Image

Oris Hank Aaron Big Crown Pointer Date. Long name… Purchased this last year during my Hawaiian trip. Love this piece, definitely my second favorite watch.

Image

Tissot Tradition Open Heart - my wedding watch. My wife got me this as a wedding gift. Wore it the day we got married in Hawaii.

Image

Unknown Longines Tank. Never figured out the exact model for this piece, but I love it. Won it at an auction when I was obsessed with Whatnot. Wife loves it so much, she will not let me sell it. I wear it on fancy occasions.

Image

Marathon Navigator 2005. My cousin is a watchmaker and he graciously let me buy this off him at a great price. When I’m feeling macho, I’ll put this guy on.

Image

Seiko King Samurai - Dark Manta. I bought this watch specifically to go night snorkeling with manta rays in Hawaii. Such a special moment in my life. Currently on an Islander bracelet.

Image

Hamilton Auto Khaki Field. The watch that started this whole thing. Although, not my first automatic watch, it got me going down the rabbit hole. I originally bought a Seiko 5 field watch and my wife just couldn’t stop talking shit about it. A few hundred Teddy videos later, I bought the Hammy.

Image

Citizen NB1050. My last puchase! I got stuck on the idea of buying a Rolex Explorer 1 or an OP, but couldn’t justify spending that much on one watch (for now). I ended up picking this piece up from eBay. A very nice, underrated JDM! Surprised not many influencers talk about this one. All the attention is going toward the Tsuyosas.

Image

Last but not least, Seiko DayDate 7N43-8119. The same cousin who sold me the Marathon gave me this piece. He had so many Seikos he needed to sell, it seemed like I was doing him a favor taking this off his hands. He replaced the crystal with a sapphire. I love this thing, I just don’t have very many opportunities to wear it.

So that’s my 2024 collection! I’m saving my blank slot for a Christopher Ward. Not sure which piece in particular, but I’ll decide when I visit their showroom in UK during a future vacation trip. Tell me when you guys think!

Iv’e tried! Most of my wardrobe is black and muted colors, so I tend to opt for black, white and blue watches. Otherwise they don’t get enough wrist time.

·

Lovely collection! I'm slowly doing away from color as well, so this palette is something I aspire for 🙌 Which Cward were you eyeing?

·

Very nice collection

·

Funny that someone said you need more color because I was just thinking this felt like a collection I might have if I went for more colors. You have half of my worn collection in that image, although slightly different g shock square. If I wasn't allergic to blue dials or gold tones, we'd probably share more than three pieces.

·

You need a GMT in this collection 🤙🏽

Oh man, I like the Atolls, Sealander GMTs and if its a possibility, the Bel Canto

·

Love your collection, very nice!

I would add another watch box. You’re almost full!! 😇

Great collection. What I love most is that each watch has a story that goes along with it. Thanks for sharing. That’s what makes watch collecting so meaningful.

Yes, absolutely! My first year of watch collecting was a mess. I bought a ton and sold almost all of them.

·

Nice collection, Ditch the digital !

·

Awesome collection 👌

I can barely get away with the size. Its just so angular and modern looking.

Yah I get you. I had one but just couldn’t get over the center thickness. So much character in all the features however. It’s a beast. Enjoy

Or get rid of this box and get a way bigger one that can fit even more 🤣.

·

That's a nice, eclectic collection. However there could be more variety both in color and in brand, brand being that all of those are established ones, you could use a microbrand, something off the beaten path.

Squale - not really a microbrand but low production and not common.

Just few ideas here, there are thousands of others if these are to your taste. Best of luck!

I ended up getting a shelf 🙃

·

Beautiful collection. Better with the story behind each watch. Congrats!

·

I love this. Everything have a story and a purpose. If you ask me, get you a GMT. You seem like you like to travel, get you a designated travel companion. If you want a CW, get you a GMT CW. P.S. your Dad's hamilton deserves to be on a nice lizard strap or ostrich leg, get it off of that metal bracelet that. Best

I love the squale and direnzo. Im definitely looking into independent/micros nowadays.

How do you like that 5600 on that strap? I tried my 5610 on a NATO and didn't love that too much
