Earning My Stripes: A Marathon, A Milestone, and My First Rolex Explorer 1

Been eyeing my first Rolex for a couple of years now but kept pulling the plug—felt like I hadn’t quite earned it, even though the bank account said ‘go for it’. I’m all about earning the good stuff, not just snagging it because you can. It just hits different when you’ve worked hard for it, right?

Fast forward to last week, right after nailing my second marathon at the Tokyo Marathon 2024 and just before my 25th birthday cake had a chance to cool off. I had it all planned out: crush the marathon, then treat myself to something special. And I did just that on Sunday.

Why the Explorer 1, you ask? Well, it’s pretty much the only Rolex that doesn’t look oversized on my 16cm wrist. This baby’s been with me to work, the gym, and even a trip to the mountains in just one week. Looks like it’s going to be my sidekick for more awesome adventures.

Thanks for letting me share, folks. Here’s to ticking off those big goals and the sweet rewards that follow. Hope you’re all crushing it too!

Congratulations on the marathon, that's far more of an achievement than buying a watch. 👏🏻👏🏻

Having said that, it's a beautiful Grail level timepiece and I hope you love it for many many more years. 👊🏻
