Help topic!

Guys, this watch you see in the photos is being sold for around 90€. The seller says it is in very good condition, and describes it as a manual winding watch with chronostop system.

Does anyone know this brande/model?  Would you buy it?

All help is welcome and appreciated.

Thanks 🙏🏼

@Aurelian Thank you for pointing me to the OP's thread. When possible, I do love to shed some light on obscure watches. The dial seems to be original when compared to others from the more popular brand that produced these type of simple 60 second chronographs. Basis Sport were very known for them. Here is a photo comparison.

The movement is a Baumgarten 677 with one jewel. It can time events within a 60 second period. You start it with the top pusher and stop it with the bottom one. But since this movement has no reset capability, you have to press the top pusher again, let it run back to top 60 and stop it again in order to be ready to time your next event. A bit tedious 😅. That  brings the expression "manual" to a more basic level.

It's a beautiful watch, not to be forgotten.

@nunoaugusto You can compare the asking price from the seller to other similar sold examples of the watch. That can help you make a decision. Also, make sure the seller has already gone threw the "trouble" of servicing this movement since not alot of watchmakers want to work on them. The service price will also be double what the watch is worth. Honesty is key, or else you will have purchased a watch that will most likely become defunct very quickly.

These can look nice, but TBH, that movement is about just as perfunctory as the R. Lapanouse
