Omega Railmaster next Generation Wishlist

Anyone else excited to see a new Railmaster generation at some point? I've got a list of things it'd love to see, as it's one of my favorite Omega lines:

  • The sandwich dial from the other vintage models

  • Size reduction to 37mm diameter and 45mm lug to lug

  • Applied Omega logo

  • Non faux-patina lume options

  • Stay no date

  • Keep the crosshair from the non-le models

  • Keep the awesome engraved case back from the non-le models

  • More unique bracelet

  • Keep the broad arrow hour hand

any features you'd add to my dilusional wishlist 😂

Edit: IDGuy on YouTube had a pretty cool rendering, including some of my points in his speculation.

I like how the outgoing model has a toolish, yet ornate design. Especially the vertically brushed dial. Monodirectional brushing is something you see a lot in industrial applications (not just the radial one).

💯 Yes, I forgot about the brushed look, love that, and how it contrasts the rest of the Omega catalogue

I think you absolutely nailed it! If they made your changes it would be nearly impossible not to buy!!❤️🎉

·

Fully subscribe your proposals, all make total sense and could be an extremely nice addition to the omega catalogue!

That's exactly how I feel. I'll be in the front row for a purchase!

Yeah, I fell like currently they have millions of dolive watches and thousands of chronographs. No real field/tool watch though and that's a shame.

·

If they did micro adjust on bracelet I’d have one already. Such an understated watch.

·

Ah yes, Railmaster, that's what my GF calls me by

Good thing she didn't go for Speedmaster!

Yeah, I find the bracelet suits the Aqua Terra, but the Railmaster is supposed to be a tool watch and needs a decent clasp, not a butterfly clasp (like the LE edition)

Hope not, lol

Even the aquaterra… for the price they asking it would actually be an OP rival if it had microadjust…. But it doesn’t.

I just don’t get why.

·

Yeah what makes me scratch my head is that they were changing the bracelet for the AT Shades and didn't improve the clasp 😐

But in general, as an ex Rwilmaster owner and current AT owner, I do think the clasp is less out-of-place on the AT compared to the RM

Love my railmaster

Yeah I feel you, I really liked my RM as well. Am thinking about getting the one you have, but might wait and see what Omega does with the line.

I was a big fan of the Railmaster for a long time. After trying it on in a boutique, I think I'd love it even more if the lugs were a little bit shorter so that the proportion would work better for my wrist. But that's just me.

Absolutely! It feels and looks too long on my opinion. It's a shame, because it's an otherwise really nice watch.

I think the 40mm wears a lot better...

·

I'd love one along these lines in 39mm.

Maybe even multiple sizes, make the Rwilmaster into a proper line with different sizes again.

Keep the faux patina please and add a 8900s series movement in nodate for a quick hour function, Mark😉

Would be a new movement then, right? 8900 no date? 8906?

I was thinking 8912😎

That rendering is great, ID Guy needs a job at Omega

I'm fine with the size it is, personally, and of all the listed changes, the regular lume option is what would make it a serious contender for me. I can't wrap my brain around how they ever decided to only do the aged/classic lume thing here. It's a fairly devisive design element, and it's so easy to do both old and new looking lume options.

Oh, and I want a date version.

Yeah, they have a non aged lume dial on the blue version. But it's not my color scheme.

I would find the vintage version really cool with white lime

I'd forgotten about that one, but I'm not a blue dial guy. I also think the white lume would look great on the other dial. I'd probably prefer and even darker dial color though.

·

I think the current blue version with the nin aged lume is practically perfect and offers great relative value.

Is it a fact that the current railmaster is being discontinued or is it still just rumour?

This seems to surface regularly on you tube videos and the forums but they keep on making them. A bit like the Tudor PO1!

Yeah I don't think they're making it anymore. It's not available on the website anymore and the Omega Boutique did tell me they don't get it anymore.

Obviously nothing is a fact until it comes from Omega themselves, but the Boutique is close enough for me 😂

Yeah, I already have too many blue dials and want a black dial field type watch 😄 but it wouldook great with the black dial

That's a worry! Better bring my plans forward then!

Haha, fomo is dangerous for watch collectors! But yeah, the Railmaster has been getting loads of publicity at the moment, let's see if it makes a difference
