I have green and its just a classic. The green dial and gold tones just works beautifully. Not subtle like the black variant but then the green dial is just 🤌🏼🤌🏼, so I eventually picked that one.
The 117 may join the collection someday, seeing some good prices and probably will pick that one up too. 😅

I am perpetually on the fence for an Alpinist, the new GMT could be it.
The green one is the one IMO. The dial is the best green & gold watch you can find on the market. the gloss/metallic green is juuust the perfect hue, the gold applied markers just make the green pop ever more. it is a beauty to look at.
But I'm always torn, I really REALLY hate the second crown for the compass, it just look out of place! and the cyclop simply angers me. I really hate Seiko for not making the baby Alpinist with this very dial and markers...
If I had to chose between the two, I'd go SPB117. However, I am actually very happy with my SPB197 with the mountain glacier dial. For me personally, the gold and green is a bit too much, but it's all subjective in the end. (Had the cyclops removed off mine, find it a bit more elegant this way)
Buuuuuut the new GMTs also look awesome 🤤
