NWA Part 2!! The Blue Ice Birch MM200 joins to complete the Seiko diver trio ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Another long-awaited model joins my Seiko diver collection. I bought this along with my Seiko Willard. Initially wanted the SPB185, the brushed steel bezel MM200 but since I saw this model a few months ago, I was set on getting this variant. After seeing the limited edition MM200 GMT with a lighter blue dial recently made my decision easier. Would have gotten the GMT when I saw it at my AD but it was already spoken for and thankfully gave me some time to think about if I need another GMT in my collection especially considering the GMT was more expensive.

Switched over to this from my Willard during lunch for the rest of the day and the initial impressions are solid.

Similar in size to my Presage GMT but it wears quite differently, 42mm diameter and 49mm lug to lug, this watch wears closer to a 40mm watch similar to a watch with 47mm lug to lug thanks to the curved and thinner case than the other divers in this range. The finishing is also top-notch. I would say it is the best finished Seiko diver in this price range along with the King Sumo. The bracelet is also very nice, I would say the best Seiko makes for its divers with a tight fit, nicely finished mid-links with polished edges which play nicely with the light adding just a little bling. I don't personally mind the clasp because it is thin which I prefer than the thick milled clasp shell and sits well under due to my wrist size but tbh could do without the diver's extension. Definitely don't think I would take the bracelet off this watch anytime soon. The accuracy has been the most impressive thing with this watch, it has only gained +1 second since I set the watch in the morning which is a very good thing out of the box for a 6R movement.

Now that I have almost all the Seiko divers Re-interpretation models (I want to add the slim turtle too but waiting to see if Seiko would reissue the 6117-8000 Navigator with the new 6R GMT movement), I will say that all three are different in terms of wearing experience and have their own merits.

Image

The 62mas is the most versatile and has the most compact wearing dimensions out of the three. With my SPB239, it can be easily can be dressed up or down with a bunch of straps and it still has the tool watch aesthetics at a glimpse. Quite dressy on a leather strap if you are in need. Still my favourite.

Image

The Willard looks and feels like a proper tool watch, the least flashy out of the three and also the most comfortable because of the cushion case. Need more straps to play around with the look.

Image

The MM200 has the least tool watch vibe with that amazing dial, the highly polished sides and the shiny bezel (TiC-coated steel bezel), a fancy diver as opposed to the other two and also the most expensive out of the three. It also came in a GS-esque box with a nice leatherette box wrapped in paper to pull the main box out of the usual white Seiko outer box, cool unboxing as opposed to the usual Seiko box (Tbh not into fancy watch boxes and prefer the standard Seiko boxes which are compact and easy to store away, but a nice unboxing experience is always welcome at times). Will take up my Presage's place until it comes back from Seiko service.

The collection for this year is almost complete, just waiting for the 55th anniversary of Seiko 5. And maybe a Longines Legend diver later in the year if the rumoured 39mm models turn out great.

Really like the faded denim look! Perhaps they were imagining an Arctic ice cap or something else oceanic, but they sure made a watch that's going to match jeans well.

The more I see these MM200, the more I think this is the most elegant dive watch case design on the market at any price point. ๐Ÿ˜

The model is from the Save the Ocean series inspired by the glaciers from Artic and Antarctica.

That being said, it is definitely going to match the jeans very well ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Hahaha...It was sort of a late birthday gift from my girlfriend, she tried to find one over at the Seiko ADs here but was already sold out so she made me find and buy one online myself ๐Ÿ˜…

It really is one step above in terms of design because of the multiple facets of the case and the more complex case shape. The Sumo case design is even more complex and beautiful in person but is on the larger side.

Congrats on the pick up, youโ€™re going to love it. I have the 167 (the one in the middle with the blue bezel). It is a hell of a lot of watch for the money.

Great pic, looking forward to my MM200 pick later this year. Just need that damn birthday to come by you know?!
