New Timex Marlin Jet: What do you think?

Last week, Timex released the new Timex Marlin “Jet with blue Nato strap. I don’t know about you guys, but I find this watch really appealing. Love the white dial, not so much complication just 24h chronograph.

When compared to its peers like Orient Bambino or Seiko 5 at same price point, personally I prefer this Marlin. What about you guys?

I like the dial design a lot, but I find the lack of bezel around the crystal a bit odd looking. Like it's missing a part.

I like it a lot, but tbh anything with writing on the case tends to give me the heeby jeebies.

Yes posted this watch myself last week it a killer for sure 👍

Yupp you right they could give more touch on the bezel. And the fact that “Marlin” word is written on the bezel is a downside for me.

the acrylic crystal covers the whole bezel. it's a different look, but i like it.

Incredible for the price. I wanted to buy one but they are sold out for the moment. The only bad point could be the mouvement but honestly for this price It's awesome. This the price of quartz model from other known brands. It's original and the size is perfect.

I like it. It's got a lot of stick for "Marlin" written on the bezel, but I suspect I'd get used to that pretty quickly.

Just realised it's 38mm. Probably too big for my taste especially as it's almost all white dial. But I'm weird and go for dress watches in the 32-34mm range.

In think it’s going for the art deco look. My favorite design period for vintage styles watches.

Right, can’t complaining at this price point 😁

I like it. Sold out for the moment. When available, I might go for it. I love the dial!

I really like it. I think the vintage Marlins are beautiful and I love my Marlin reissue, so the Jet definitely piqued my interest.

I'm not even mad about the Marlin name on the case. Under the domed crystal it's going to have some funky distortions, it fits the aesthetic they're going for, and it's a nice typeface.

I'm not a white dial person, but I'd be happy to wait for a black dial version of the Jet if not for two things:

1. It's 38mm and it really shouldn't be larger than 36mm. I thought they figured this out with the 40mm Marlins they issued.

2. That 19mm lug width. Why, oh why? Do they hate us? Are we being punished? Seriously though, it's an irritating strap size and it's not true to classic Marlin proportions.

The Marlin should be a bit over strapped. The reissue is 34mm on a 18mm strap. They should have done the Jet in a 36mm case with a 20mm strap. The reason the Marlin does smart casual as well as dress is how planted and composed the watch looks on a slightly oversized strap.

The 19mm strap and Marlin written on the case are the only cons I find about this watch.

It's funny, the case size and Marlin text are divisive for sure, but everyone seems to agree that the 19mm lug width is a huge con! 😂 It's disappointing because it's a beautiful design in so many ways. Still, I think it's an elevated offering from Timex and I approve of the general direction they're going in. I look forward to seeing more good stuff from Timex this year!
