Wedding Watch (as a guest)

Let's roleplay:

You are invited to 2 weddings this year, by good friends who you ate semi-close with - but not close enough to be asked to be a groomsman/bridesmaid. So you will be attending as a normal guest and be there to support them and most importantly have fun!

  • Wedding 1: Late June in Southern California, avg temps during your stay will be 78-88°F and a little humid.

  • Wedding 2: Early November in France (wow!) about an hour outside of Paris. Avg temps during your stay will be 40-55°F and a little humid.

So I wanna see your watch picks from your collection at present. Maybe it's the same watch, maybe you have different picks! Please include pictures!

(Pic of my Reverso for attention, also would be my Wedding 2 choice. But I wanna see yours!!)

I absolutely love that Reverso ! It would be a great choice for both.

I lead a very casual lifestyle, but I also really like dress watches. I have some in my collection that I rarely get an opportunity to wear in anything close to a formal setting.

I prefer bracelets in hot weather, and straps in cold weather. For the hot early summer wedding, I'd probably go for my Day Date, and for the cooler late fall wedding, my Cellini Prince on the alligator strap would be my choice.

Either that or my Santos for both, simply swapping between the bracelet or rubber strap.

Excellent choices!! Can't go wrong with a YG DD, nor any santos! The Cellini is a good surprise to see, I think it'd do very well!!

I'd prob go with my VC for the summer one simply because I agree on the bracelet front.

A VC on bracelet sounds like an awesome choice for a summer wedding, but anything from the holy trinity is out of my league.

I'm going to say an affordable stainless dive style watch for 1 and then, to change it up, an affordable stainless dive style watch for 2, except in my case, I won't be traveling to either destination because I've got work and too little money.

All is fair!

Oof the 151 hits very well. Truly IYKYK!

SoCal in summer says outdoor wedding to me. I think something sporty and gold. A two tone Daytona would do nicely.

Image

As for France, I'm of two minds.

If it were were more casual, I would indulge the French side of my collection. The OG wrist watch brand and my OG watch, Cartier Roadster Chronograph.

Image

But if it were more formal? PF Tondagraph GT on the excellent bracelet.

What does ‘IYKYK’ mean?

I have a 1959 Timex Viscount that I wore for my wedding, so probably that

Cleannnnnn

I fully support SARBs in this endeavor

These two for me, especially for the wedding in France I'd go with the Santos, and I'd put a baby blue strap in the tank for the summer wedding

Image

You've got classy and classic taste! Don't think a day will come when either of these go out of style tbh

Your Reverso is great for the 2 occasions with each face 👌🏻🤣

I think Reverso got a summer noon wedding and maybe the Frank Muller for en evening event 🧐

I like it, I feel we rarely see Franck Mullers these days, it's a treat to see one now!

All at once?? 😂

They all look great!

Well u said an event watch (maybe I read it wrong) and I wear these to fancy-pancy events. All rotate in. For the F1 cocktail in Vegas I wore that simple Seiko, the gala foundation at Disney Hall the other time was the Doxa, my friend's black tie event at Nobu was the Golden Horse, etc.

To be honest, any one you like the most! 90% of people will not notice you are wearing a watch, and will likely not understand why you need one if there are smartphones to do that! Wear it for yourself

I would wear this for a wedding:

Not asking advice, just wanting to see what other people would wear from their collections 🤩

I saw that exact Tank Vermil configuration in a local shop a few years back, it really has a cool funk to it under different lights!

I got you, it's a helluva rotation!

No worries, Im sure u will nail it- its more of what u are wearing anyway. For tuxes I wear mainly square and slim or round n thin. I like for it to tuck into sleeves not protrude and have presence - that honor reserved for the bride's dress 😎 to get all the attention. Not your watch. Enjoy Paris and LA.

·

Hmm. This reminds me of that quote ““You'll stop caring what people think about your watch when you realize how seldom people notice what you’re wearing or care.” Remember that you're always biased towards your own perceptions. 🥴 That said, I’d wear an Omega Speedmaster.

Oh I'm not asking advice, I just wanted to see what other people would choose from their collections in a fiction set of situations

Not asking for advice, nor are these scenarios real. Just wanted to see what other people pick from their collections because it's fun to see other people's watches 👍

Indeed! This hobby of ours is all about not taking it seriously 😂
