61 years old. Retired CPA, also collecting cameras. Grandpa to four boys. Motorcycle rider, guitar player, and father to two girls. Married 37 years. Live in Salem, Oregon. I’m interested in cool cheap watches.
I got tired of my Apple Watch. I watched a zillion YouTube videos. I ended up getting a Mido Ocean Star diver. Actually, I still have a few of the watches I wore in the 1980’s and 1990’s, none of which are the slightest bit collectible.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
Timex kids watch I got for my birthday when I was about six.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
No.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Since I am just getting into watches, I really don’t have any advice.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
I am basically a cheapskate. I have been looking at Vostok and San Martin watches.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
When I was in my early 20s, way back in the mid 1980s, I wanted a Rolex Submariner. At that time, it was pretty easy to buy one but, of course, I didn’t have any money. I would still like to own one, but realistically, that’s not going to happen.
