DIY Watch Club

Has anyone else done a DIY Watch Club watch? I got mine as a Christmas present last year. It was super fun putting together and I learned a lot during the process. I also have a pretty good looking watch that has held up well over the last year. I definitely have a special connection with it having put it together myself. The watch has sapphire crystal, a Seiko NH35 movement and an exhibition caseback.

I did not know about these kits, do you mind sharing a bit more about them?

They sell a variety of kits where they provide you with all the tools, watch components and videos to show you how to do everything. Check out https://diywatch.club/ for more information.

Thanks for the link, that looks very nice ! How would you rate the quality of the finished product considering the price?

I've tried it and really enjoyed it! I built one of their dress watches. Great experience! I recently got a new kit with the upgraded tools. It also came with "blued hands" kit. Looking forward to putting it together soon!

i got one with the skeleton dial a few weeks back. It was a lot of fun and it is one of my favorite watches now probably because of the special connection

I was surprised how fast it shipped. it came from china to the netherlands in 4 days. normaly things from china take at least a month

I think you get a good watch for what you pay. Could you potentially buy all the parts for a bit cheaper...possibly. But I like that it comes with everything you need to build it, including tools and instruction videos, so I think it is well worth the price.

I just bought the red fume dial one few weeks ago, havent got round to it yet as i got friends with kids bunking in my house and i wana setup a workdesk before i start giving it a crack.

Kinda excited about it. This will be the first try and fail kinda watch, then i ll attempt building a mm200 all over again according to my likings.

I did one a few months ago, and enjoyed the process.  I would not recommend it for people who are impatient.

I'd recommend avoiding any of their add-ons, I got a movement holder and a parachute strap and they were both extremely low quality.  Another thing I don't like about DWC, their shop photos are all these dimly lit/dramatic shots of the watches, and they don't give you a great feel for what the final product will look like.

I ended up not liking the dial I chose much (Expedition Watch with Deep Blue Sandwich Dial), the matte blue is boring.  I guess there's no reason I can't order a different one for it in the future.  The case and crystal are nice quality.

I'm now working on a 36mm explorer style watch that I sourced my own parts for, but I screwed up the first dial, and USPS lost the second one... one day.

Really nice I dont Have anything better to compare it to but the leather stitching on my band is amazing  the finish on the case is amazing and I’ve heard other people say it’s about as good as seiko but I don’t know I’ve never had a seiko

My girlfriend got me the openheart, silver dial dress watch. I haven't started on it yet because I'm a little scared to install the hands. I need to face my fears and do it.

I’m in the process of building mine, love it, nice quality can’t wait to finish.  I cracked my sapphire dial face because I screwed up.  They were good about helping me out with a replacement, not free as it was clearly my fault but good discount on a not cheap part.  Awaiting another package from HK.

I can see building another one after this.

All done now I got the replacement dial.  We’ll worth it, really nice quality, good Seiko movement very nice case finish, good people.  I’m already thinking of doing a diver.  Fun stuff, I’d recommend it to anyone thinking about it.  But I rebuilt the engine in my first Porsche back in the early ‘80’s so this was nothing.  I also had a fun tool laying around to help place the second hand :).
