Kudoke 1

I massively appreciate this watch, but I rarely wear it. Might it be leaving my collection? Part of me wants to be a custodian for this piece of personal artistry, likely completed in Kudoke's living room (and one of the very first, no less). I'm not, however, running a museum. Normally, I can decide to sell a watch and immediately sever all sentimentality, but it's a little easier for me to let go of a mass-produced piece from a big brand than something a single person shepherded from parts to art.

It's lovely. I wish I knew more about it and the history of its maker. Can you tell us about It's size, age and model name?

Wow. Absolutely stunning. I've held the Kudoke 2 in hand, and can certainly attest to the beauty of the workmanship.

I can totally relate about being in that ambivalent position. It's easy to let go of a Moonwatch, 'cause there's always another right around the corner. But, much harder to let go of a very unique piece - both in terms of sentiment and logistically!

These are made by Stefan Kudoke in Dresden. This particular model is about five years old. It was his first with a unique (and gorgeous) in house movement (made in collaboration with Habring and owing some debt to the 7750, but with a very different architecture). https://www.kudoke.eu/en/kudoke-1/

Because it's awesome. I expected to wear it more, but I don't. It happens sometimes

·

That is amazing. Personally, unless you are in great need of the cash, I would keep it. Even if you don’t wear it that often. Perhaps you can make a point to do so. Beautiful watch!

·

Maybe try wearing it for 1 or 2 weeks solid tondee 8f your feelings change.

·

Hard for me to imagine selling that one. I feel like that's a hand-me-down for someone, even if you rarely wear it today. It'll never lose value, I wouldn't think, and never lose its coolness, either.

·

I put on a Kudoke 2. The one with the moon phase. It was outstanding. I’m kinda bummed it got away. So I can’t see selling it. But I get where your at, you want it wear your watches. All I can say is Good luck!

·

Have you tried a diff strap with it? May be it changes the wearability. Im a fan but cant see myself spending that much. I was very close to buy a kudoke 2 but pull back since it wont fit my lifestyle as a sport watch does.

·

Unless you need the money, I don't see selling it. Hold on and see what happens in a few years?

·

I also think it’s stunning peace.

Do you have any idea why you not wearing it much even you like it so much.

Afraid of damaging it?

Wrong strap?

Do to much dress watch for your daily style?

Not enough edc because of water resistants or similar?

Do like that combo?

Sadly the only impression I could find so far someone combined this watch with a metal strap

Thanks. I've worn it on many different straps, including mesh. I think that the main issue is that it's not 100% my style, and I have other watches with a variety of characters that are. Definitely not worried about damage, etc. I wear my watches, and, if I'm not wearing one (like this), I start to wonder why I still have it.

One thing I will say about this one that is mostly neutral but ends up leaning negative for me: It reads a bit like a dress watch, but it's subtly playful. It ends up being not quite as elegant as a standard dress watch while resisting strictly casual wear. Usually, I like that blurring of categories (I think Grand Seiko often does it well), but it hasn't worked for me in this case.

I really like what Kudoke has been doing. Had my eye on the Grüner Wald Sonderedition for a while, but shied away from spending that much money on such a small / relatively unknown operation. Went with GO. Incidentally, Stefan Kudoke learned his craft at the watchmaking school in Glashütte, then continued to work at Glashütte Original.

Re the Kudoke 1: it really is a beauty. But I may understand the not-wearing-it-that-often. It's perhaps too understated, too much white dial. The 2 adds a bit more visual excitement:

Still, if you can't trade in the 1 for an absolute stunner (i'm thinking GO Pano, VC 56 or Kudoke 2 🙂) and you don't really need the cash: hold on to it!

I see your point. Your tried out a lot. Spend time with the Watch and still the fire will not heat up properly 😅

It’s quite difficult in one point your appreciate the Watch in a another point it’s quite a lot money laying around just for grabbing ist from time to time.

I think If you are more a purist and surrounding your self just with things really connected too because your experience them by wearing them let the watch go.

If you’re good with that to find from time to time joy in that Watch and you don’t mind about the money keep it and see it as a combination from partime joy and investment.

Maybe my thoughts can support you in one or the other way.

Anyway curious too see what your bring up next because of your great watch taste 😁

Thanks again. I'll see what kind of purist I end up being :) I also recognize that sometimes things sit around for a long time being mostly ignored and then suddenly end up getting a lot of attention.

The time will bring the answer and at the end has everything it’s Time. 😄

I keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞
