Any recommendations on a smooth sweeping second hand watch that won’t break the bank?
Leaning toward the Bulova Precisionist (242 kHz UHF Quartz) with a seriously smooth 16 beats per second (57,600 beats per hour).

I once made a conclusion about that topic. Three different watches with three different movement types.
Short answer, there is nothing cheaper than Bulova.
There is...the Frederique Constant Monolithic, with 40Hz/288,000 beats per hour. Pure mechanical.

Bulova Precisionist. Only watch that have a higher beat rate is the Grand Seiko. You can't go wrong with Bulova Precision, it is the second best in that category and within reach to most people.

Someone already recommended the Bulova, I would go with a vintage Spaceview. Classic watch with historic significance.

Actually, technically, the old school Accutrons and ESA 9162/9164 movements were 360Hz and 300Hz respectively.
360Hz is 10 ticks per seconds. Still far below 16 ticks per seconds.

Actually, 360Hz is 720 ticks per second — you’re thinking of 36000vph, which is 5Hz and the frequency used by the El Primero movement.
