SOTC 22/23

Since the end of the year is just around the corner I would like to post the status of my collection from the time of WC registration which happened approximately a year and a half ago.

I am very grateful for all of you, for the friendly attitude that is so common here that I always like to come back here, for your knowledge in the field of horology, for the sober look with which you wash away any doubts and last but not least, for the very rare and unique sense of humor that made my day countless times in a very lovely manner 🍻

First watch on the left is the Tissot PRX powermatic 80 from my girlfriend. I've got it from her as one day she lost her patience as I was waxing poetic about that watch, so she bought it for me. It means a lot for me because it is a symbol of my relationship, of the beautiful and lovely moments I had together with my girlfriend, and the green dial always reminds me of her 😍 because green is her favorite color and she often wears green clothing or accessories.

Image

Triumph is the only quartz watch I have, I got it from a regular and very friendly customer at work with a drained battery, saying that if I fix it, I can keep it so I've changed the battery the very same day and new addition was born 😀 My father wore them also for a while, but since I bought him a Seiko 5 he never took them off his wrist, so the Triumph remained in my collection 🙂

Image

The third in order are my newest addition and my favorite one I guess. I really like wearing them, the eta 2824-2 top grade movement is really very reliable and accurate, they have such an ideal weight that you know you have them on your wrist but you don't mind the heavy weight. I also really like the quick-to-read dial with numbers, but I also can't help but mention the great coloring and light reflection 👌

Image

The fourth is probably the most interesting watch in my collection, on the one hand it was my first watch that I've built (based on the eta/valjoux 7751) and on the other hand it was the first in the collection at all. The whole process of building this watch was very exhausting and lengthy, so I appreciate this gem all the more 🍻

Image

The fifth in a row is a watch from namokiMods. I read so much about this group of moders that I wanted to try it also and to have my own experience. I was definitely swayed by the reviews, but I'm glad I was influenced in this case. These are my go-to watches when I can't decide which watch to get so I'll take these, somehow they fit in every situation, they blend in with the environment, they're quite inconspicuous but very comfortable with a NATO strap. They run on NH35 and even though it is not the most accurate movement, it is very reliable 🙂

So that's about all so far, what would you recommend to add into this collection on new year? Which one of this five watches you like the most?

So much for my collection, please forgive my grammar but english isn't my first language, if you have read this far, thank you for your support and I wish you happy and lovely holidays ❄🎄🎄

Great collection! I have been looking into this Tissot for quite a time, I want it to be my first “not-cheap” watch, and the style of it is quite similar to my daily rider Casioak Edifice. How was your experience with it so far?

Despite many reviews, whether positive or negative, PRX are valuable from a horological point of view. In today's era of many microbrands and copied designs, PRX is unique, not only that its history goes back to the seventies, even though it is an updated model from about three years ago, but they have their own character. I had a big dilemma as to how they would look in real because before I got to them I had not seen them live. When I opened the box I was shocked how pretty they are. This watch is one of those where picture doesn't justify the real look. I must say that I am not surprised by people who own two or three PRXs in their collection in different colors. One can easily get used to the accuracy, 80-hour power reserve and unique appearance. I am neither a watchmaker nor a reviewer, but I could write endless poems about this watch. I don't know what PRX quartz is like but this powermatic 80 is a high-quality piece in my opinion. I had them on a leather strap for a while, but I quickly put the original bracelet back on, it's so well made that I don't even want to imagine anything else on them. The crown is quite small, but I don't use it often because they keep time accurately and for a long time. The dial is also top, I really like the waffle pattern and it reflects the light uniquely. If I had to call something a disadvantage from the user's point of view, it is probably the weak lume. Personally, it doesn't bother me, but if you care about significant luminescence, PRX is probably not what you're looking for 🍻

First of all, thank you for taking your time to reply! Secondly, I don’t care about lume neither, so it is not a problem for me. After your words I am even more convinced to get one, I’ve been wanting a watch with a quality steel bracelet, and it makes me happy that one of the things you point out is the bracelet! I personally don’t wear or carry much green, so I will probably go with a black dial, and a white one really speaks to me but I don’t find it anywhere for less then 700EUR so probably will have to settle for a black one for now.
