Hi, I just purchased my first watch, and I couldn't be happier with it! I was never into watches at all, but when I stumbled upon a youtube review of this Casio WV-59, I instantly felt the unexplainable urge to get one, not only because of it's looks, but also because my inner geek was amazed, that a watch can receive radio signal from an atomic clock.

Long story short, now I have a whole list of "favorite" watches, some of which I would like to own at some point, but mostly I just adore the engineering and styling of them. Glad to be here, I really enjoy the content you guys post.

Welcome to WC! I find myself wondering if the popularity of the older rectangular digital watches has anything to do with the Apple Watch. Like maybe the shape has seeped into our collective consciousness giving us an affinity for square/rectangular watches. I was never interested in these watches before, but over the last several months I’ve purchased an AE1200 and find myself looking at other rectangular digital watches. Whatever the case, you’ve chosen a pretty cool watch for your first purchase. Cheers.

I love cushion cases, square and turtle case watches. My first watch was a rounded rectangle Seiko analog digital hybrid from the 80s so that might be why. Not a fan of the apple watch myself though.
