thinking about alternatives

So I've been an electronic watch guy for a long time.  I had Timex cheap watches growing up, have a bunch of Pebble smartwatches, and mostly use a Garmin Fenix 6S.  I'm looking at some purely mechanical watches.

On my "wishlist" is:

  1. 24 hour hand
  2. Mechanical, no battery
    1. automatic better than manual, but either
  3. Would like a chronograph
  4. Would like an adjustable bezel or 2nd time zone
  5. Small wrist friendly would be a plus

The Glycine brand is really expensive.  Others don't usually seem to have the combination of features I'm looking for.  I found the Svalbard brand that's cheaper, but the country's registration is odd.  Does anyone have one of those?

For the gmt’s but a chrono gmt … hmmmm

Mechanical Chrono with a second time option your pushing more than glycine prices.

Best option is to separate your needs into multiple watches if you are on a budget.

For automatic Chrono on a budget you can't beat this Tissot for 355:

This is the only watch I found closest to your description and even when money is no object the watch is 44mm.  4100 USD

If you go with quartz 995 USD 46mm

A Glycine is on the budget side of things, so it’ll be real tough since most that want that functionality opt for a world timer. I hate to say it, but an automatic chronograph with a rotating bezel and GMT is hard to find period, nevermind under a few grand as most are significantly higher. Small will also be tough since it will also likely have stacked modules. A couple that check all the boxes are a Sinn 6000, or my pick, an Autavia 2446. Omega also has a couple. Again, sadly most likely out of budget.

i find it interesting how they like to have the "normal" hands with the 12 hour movement, and throw the GMT hand / bezel on 24.  kinda weird combination.  love the look of those Sinn watch faces

Yes bi-directional

Thanks for the tips and suggestions folks.  I'm surprised how few, relatively speaking, there are that have a 24 hour sweep on the main hand; at least if I want to add something like a chronograph.  Good food for thought though, thanks!

I might just have to get my 24 hour hand watch, and consider one with a chronograph for a second.
