One day, I got a call from my very Turkish father, Murat.
In his thick warm accent:
"Son, I want to buy a Rolex."
He and I would go back and forth over several models; Daytona, Sub, & Datejusts... nothing clicked... until about two weeks ago. The watch pictured above landed in my lap, and I knew he needed to see it in person.
Murat: "What do you love about it."
Me: "Well, it's neo-vintage, the sweet spot between the visual aesthetic of vintage Rolex and modern-day build quality, making this a very tangible daily driver."
Murat: "What do you mean?"
Me: "It looks cooler than the new ones, but it isn't so old that you must avoid poolside parties."
Murat: "You do like to party."
Me: "I... do?"
He seemed intrigued; half a week went by... I get another call
Murat: "Is this Rolex something you'd be proud to inherit, or should we go for something else?"
Me "This is something I would be very proud to wear."
Long story short, he bought the watch, yet it remains on my wrist... a gift from a father to a son.
It's not my first Rolex but the first Rolex I will never sell.
The hunt for Murats Rolex continues.

He's an awesome guy; he adopted me when I was 9 and has been lighting the path every day since.
GREAT back and forth between you and your father. Congrats on your new forever watch. I am looking forward to the next chapter in Murat's hunt, so please keep us posted. Hoping this all ends with a great pool party! 😂
