I agree and think maybe you should look at it with a strap, it might totally change the look of it on your wrist. You. might also consider trying the smaller versions with a strap just to see what it looks like on your wrist.

commented on Which of these 3 "dress watches" is right for you? ·

of the three, I'd pick the GS, and only because I think a dress watch should be on a strap (less bling on your wrist looks better when dressing up in my opinion).  If all of them were on a strap, I'd go for the Santos first with the GS as second.  I've seen some shots of a Submariner looking nice worn at formal events but personally I'd never choose something that chunky to go along with a dress up event.

I don't think 36mm is a woman sized watch.  I think it really all boils down to what you like and what you are comfortable with.  One of my first large purchases was a Tank Solo XL and while I was at the boutique trying it out, I really really wanted the large one or even the size below that one (since they are discontinued now, I can't remember what sizes they came in..but I think it was a small), but the salesclerk kept telling me that the smaller sizes were women's watches.  I regret that now because I've personally found that smaller watches (in my mind) fit better on my 6.75 inch wrist and I've grown to love small thin timepieces.   I just recently acquired a Cartier Panthere 27mm and although it sounds and looks really small, it is now my favorite watch.  Every time I put on my BB 36mm, I find it completely comical and really way too big for me.

I agree with this. I had to start taking statistics for health reasons and decided that the best way to do that without carrying some extra bulky stuff with me is to just wear an Apple Watch.  It didn’t even occur to me for some reason that it also has a time function because I didn’t even buy it for that purpose.

I still get the occasional question why do I wear two watches and my answer is usually ‘I only use one of them for time’ which in most cases is usually sufficient to alleviate a follow up question.  I really don’t try to bother with explanations anyway…I mean you do you right?

Lastly, because I started collecting watches long before the smartwatch, I didn’t think it made any sense for me to get rid of any of my mechanicals, some of which were milestone pieces or have sentimental value, just because I needed another device that happens to tell the time and could do double duty.  Actually even the thought of never buying another non-smart watch just because I have an Apple Watch is really depressing.

commented on Cartier Tank Must on Steel Bracelet ·

I've been thinking about getting a bracelet for my Burgundy Tank Must despite my actually not really liking my Cartier on a bracelet.  I must say this is very compelling...it looks great on the bracelet.  Do you mind sharing which bracelet you went with on Amazon?

commented on Scratches are inevitable, but how do you deal with it? ·

I started my watch collecting years ago; my first watch had brushed and polished links which I tried hard to keep pristine.  One day I scuffed my watch and that scuff turned into a few more scratches and at some point in the life of that watch, I realized that I didn't enjoy the watch enough because I was too busy giving a crap about the scratches.  I learned way back when that I would love it a hell of a lot more if I used it more and didn't care.  That changed my perspective of my watch collecting.  I enjoyed that watch a LOT after I changed my mindset.  Years later and with that same mindset, I have several other pieces which I get a lot of joy out of.  The initial scratch or ding gets me at first, but I lose that minor irritation after awhile and go on enjoying.  I still have that first watch...just took it out to look at it and it is so banged up that can no longer really see the different polish and brushed links...BUT the memory of how much I enjoyed wearing it still lingers.  One of my most favorite pieces currently is my Cartier Tank XL Solo and that thing is scratched everywhere, but I totally enjoy wearing it and I think that's what's made me appreciate it more.

I hope you find some mental advice to help you enjoy your Santos.
