Post #2 My mid school dream watch

The “Panda” was my dream watch when I was in my early teens. I liked reading the watch ads on my father’s Newsweek and Time magazines. Apart from the usual sponsors like Rolex, Seiko also had ads. This particular model has been unforgettable since then. 50 years later I got one, had it overhauled and have it in a relatively OK working condition.

Very cool! I'm not usually a fan of this subdial layout, but with the inner tachymeter scale, the color scheme and the symmetry between the logo and the date window, it really works!

I was more interested in his other magazines around that time... And I might have seen a watch ad or two....maybe.

LOL! Hilarious!!

Great looking vintage Seiko 😀

At that amplitude I would think it's ready for a service. How long ago was it "overhauled"?

Your’e right. I left out the fact that I bought it in near-junk condition. I had a watchmaker in Nagano to get it running. It’s actually still a work in progress. I might have to ask for what we call a Nikoichi (2 for 1).
