Review San Martin SN0116-G GMT

Today I received my new San Martin and as I‘m really impressed with this one, I thought about using it as an excuse to do my first brief watch review.

From the moment I opened the box I knew, this one was special. It looks and feels a 1000 dollars.

Case:

  • Diameter: 39.5 mm (without the crown)

  • Lug 2 lug: 46.8 mm

  • Height: 12.3 mm

  • Lug width: 20 mm

  • Slim middle case

  • Brushed with polished bevels

  • Sterile case back

  • 316 L stainless steel

  • Drilled lug holes

  • Signed screw-down crown

Movement:

  • NH34 (Seiko) Caller GMT

Weight: 136 gr. (with full bracelet)

Water resistance: 100mtrs. (10bar)

Dial:

  • Matt black

  • Applied indices (polished)

  • Superluminova BGW-9 (decent, not great)

  • Red tip on the seconds hand

  • Red GMT Hand

  • Applied polished logo

  • Colour matched date window at six o‘clock

  • White outer chapter ring with micro numerals every 5 minutes

Bezel:

  • Ceramic insert

  • 24 clicks

  • Good bezel action (no back play, perfectly aligned)

Glass:

  • Beautiful double domed box sapphire crystal with AR coating on the underside

  • Minimal distortion, good viewing angles

Bracelet:

  • Beads of rice style

  • Polished beads, brushed outer links

  • Female, solid end links

  • Great clasp with good quick adjustment system

Price (Germany/Euro): 319 Euros

The watch is ultra comfortable to wear and even fits my smallish wrists. I can‘t imagine a better GMT watch in this price bracket. I love the direction San Martin is heading. Great production quality, good original designs and affordable. Most of my watches are at least double the price and their finishing is inferior in comparison. I would recommend this one wholeheartedly to anyone looking for an affordable high quality GMT watch.

Great review. This has been on my short list for bit...

·

Addendum: It somehow reminds me of KITT from Knight Rider, and that’s how it shall be called from here on out. 😂

Great review! I recently got a similar model and feel the same way. San Martin has really come a long way in quality and is on par with many Swiss manufacturers now.
