I May Be Petty, but...

Had a watch listed on eBay and saw that I had a potential buyer ask me questions. Sure, I'll be happy to answer any questions. He asked me questions you would expect such as "What's the case height? What's the lug to lug? What's the case width?"

Then proceeded to lecture me by stating this. "These are things watch buyers want to know. "

I went upstairs to my watch case and pulled up my calipers and answered all of his questions. But the tone with which he added the last, really grated on me.

So at the end of all of those specs I typed, I just stated, "On second thought, never mind".

And I ended the auction. Lol. Maybe I'm just a dick. Maybe he didn't intend to come across that way but that is the way I took it.

People can be entitled, they forget they are dealing with another human and not a huge corporation sometimes. I say block that user and relist it. No need to have someone's lack of etiquette cost you a sale.

The true enthusiast sees a pic of a watch and either knows or knows how to find out. They can then ask to confirm.

That said, all the dimensions & specs probably should be on every listing.

You are correct, of course. I had listed several already that day and it was the last. I was tired and didn't add it. My listings all say " if you have any questions, please ask". That's the first time I've had anyone give me crap over it though.

“We reserve the right to refuse service” = I’m blocking you 😜

And I checked their profile. They joined eBay about 3 years ago and had only 10 feedback comments. So it really was like a child lecturing an adult.

Good job. Don't put up with jerks. Don't play with them either.

Google it. 🤷

·

I don't blame you. No need for that from the potential buyer.

Ah, you're considerably more polite than I'd have been 🤣
