Most discouraging watch of the last decade

I think that the North Flag was a honest attempt at making a true modern alternative to the Explorer. It was just too different and too bold a design for the traditional customers, too expensive for luring in new customers and so it tanked. The North Flag is the only watch from Tudor I'll ever consider buying but let's face it: It looks more like a design from Seiko when they were still willing to innovate and therefore less likely to appeal to the intended target group.

I remember it coming out and it leaving me cold. People expected a follow up to the Black Bay but got this.

Funny how watch enthusiasts each have their own unique tastes and preferences. I admired the NF the very first time I saw it in pictures and videos. Before even knowing its specs and capabilities. It is my favorite watch in the collection.

For me, the issue was the integrated bracelet -- not into those (not a huge bracelet fan, generally); if they hadn't gone with an integrated bracelet, I liked the remainder of the design and would have strongly considered one.

But, Tudor was way ahead of the integrated bracelet trend -- I think they even discontinued the NF a bit before the trend really appeared.

Loved the article - and I agree. I thought the North Flag was a wonderful watch, and yes I was aware of the Ranger II design cues, and I would still purchase one of these now as it is an excellent blend of sports, field and ruggedness.

The watch community asked for one thing, and bought another

is the perfect summary, and it’s my favourite part of the whole article. I often think the watch community are idiots, and we get what we deserve. We don’t deserve nice things.

I have one and love it. It's the differences that make it feel special and not like every other submariner homage looking watch. It's also one of the few forward looking designs rather than a heritage/retro design. I dunno, I like what I like. 🤷

Same here. Its the quirkiness that makes the NF such a special piece. :)

The NF is an odd beast to me. Something of an acquired taste for sure. I look at it and there are times that I think oh yeah I want that l….. then a min later blah nah not for me.
