Cartier Roadster modification

This is a story about modding my beloved Cartier Roadster I have owned since 2008. This watch always holds a special place in my heart as it was my wedding watch.

I love the case shape and unique design of the Cartier Roadster, but I have never been a fan of the factory quick-change strap/bracelet system which kills the options for third party straps. For years, I have been contemplating the idea of modding the case to drill lug holes next to the quick release slits. Obviously, no one is willing to take the job until I finally stumbled upon this watch maker in Hong Kong who specializes in servicing and modding luxury watches. He confidently took on the job, and in 7 days my baby is back and boy am I impressed. It’s now paired with a grey leather strap that I got from Molequin and I can already tell this watch is a great strap monster.

This is where I got my inspiration from:

The factory Cartier leather straps are expensive and stiff.

Does it impede the integrated system?

I love how this looks but also tend to wear mine on bracelet so like preserving that optionality

One more question!  What was the lug width before and after?  I know the 3 hander roadster is 19mm, did it stay that way post the drilling?

Yes, everything stays the same. Lug width remains at 19mm after drilling.

Amazing.  Gotta find someone a bit closer than HK to do this.  You're inspiring me!

Good luck! Took me quite some time to find someone to get it done.
