Lorier crushes so hard at this price point - it's about $100.00 over budget from what you posed, however, I think making the push is well worth it in this case.
Don't get me wrong - the new Seiko GMT is no slouch, but the Lorier GMT offers a lot of value here; you have essentially 3 options.
This is an absolutely beautiful dive GMT that doesn't call to memory (at least my memory) any specific influence.
This might start splitting some pretty small hairs, but consider the movement as well:
Seiko 4R34 - You get a standard +45/-35 seconds a day (my Seiko's, I have more than I should) typically run better than that - underpromise overdeliver situation I think, and you'll get 21,600 VPH which is standard for the price point.
Miyota 9075 - This is also a workhorse movement, but if small upgrades to spec's matter to you, there's a little meat on this bone. -10/+30 seconds a day and a nice 28,800 VPH for a slightly smoother sweep.
Plus, the little extras you get from Lorier out of the box are nice, you get a little hand written thank you card and a leather pouch for your new timepiece. overall, it feels more connected to the watch community than some of the big brand options - although, I fully back an SSK as well!

Go with the one the started the cheap GMT crazy.
Or you can try a Spinnaker. Either way, you likely will be looking for something with this movement if you want an automatic.
Islander is great too.

These are your classic "red and blues" which I tend to enjoy over other styles of GMTs, with the exception of the Grand Seiko SBGM221
