Seiko SKX 025 - what you think?

Hey watch community,

just bought this SKX Pepsi reference 025. Specs are 37 mm diameter (without crown) from the 90’s, water resistance 3 ATM and of course 7S26 movement with 21 jewels.

The thing that pushed me into the purchase (for about 200€) is the og crown and the Pepsi color which seems to be quite rare. In addition, this is a less explored SKX version, with a reasonable diameter and Japan made version (not china made). Considering the years, conditions seems fair.

I think that it should nicely match my wrist of 17 cm and also this reference for this price may be a good deal. What you think? SKX models are both historical watches and highly criticized (very high prices due to discontinued production), but I believe they are still the option to go for a diver in this price range.

The new vintage!

I never knew the SKX was also a non-diver certified watch. But I guess it was just a prefix, just like SPB or SRPG now.

Why isn't he a certified diver for you?

It says "water resist", it doesn't say "diver's"

No lume pip at 3 either. To be ISO rated you need luminous pips at all the markers. Technically the Rolex Submariner isn't a fully certified dive watch

Right 👍 the seller told me that only models with bigger diameter has it, and it seems true

That's a great looking watch. It reminds me of a Sea Urchin (perhaps it is even one. Didn't think it was 37mm though) which I've been after for a while. This could be a good alternative.

Cheers!
