30th Birthday Gift

Just received this beauty in the mail. Although it’s not mine! I purchased it for my friend who is turning 30 tomorrow. He loves watches but doesn’t have the means to really spend 100’s of dollars on one. So I figured I would hook him up with this Seiko Diver. Problem is now I fell in love with it and want to keep it for myself 😂. Of course I won’t but I’m going to wear it today to make sure it’s keeping good time and there are no issues with it.

I think he’s going to love it!

Has anyone ever gifted someone else a watch? Or maybe was on the receiving end? Would love to hear what you gave/got!

Beautiful! Hopefully wearing it didn't include taking off stickers and whatnot (that's part of the fun of opening a new gift!).

Such a nice colorway! Is it bronze or just pvd plated? Great gift❤️ never got one as a gift but i gifted one to a friend and he wears it regularly

You are a good friend! It's a nice piece.

May your friend wear it in good health!

Yes, lots over the years!

Usually cathartic, but often considered.

Lots of Seiko's, a couple Hamilton's, a Cartier (Mrs) , Omega Ladymatic (sister) Aqua Terra (Dad) , unimatic, Vostok's... But I have been into watches since childhood (70's).

Got a few folks into the hobby too 😜👍🏻👍🏻

What a great gift for your friend! You'll make him really Happy.

I have received a Seiko Astron from my father in law, which is the watch responsibly of becoming a watch addict.

I have only gifted a Swatch to my daughter.

I've given Casios to my teenagers and AliExpress dive style watches to my wife. All were well received and worn.

·

I have received a Vostok Amphibia and a Casioak , I have gifted a Mondaine and a Seiko5 :)

I've gifted several. My adult daughter loves colorful watches so I've given her the MoonSwatch Sun and several Baby G Shocks. My nephew loves microbrands so I've given him a Unimatic and a Monta. My niece so appreciated the painted IFL Blueberry G-Shock I lent her that I told her she can keep it. And my son is now rocking an Armand Nicolet and a Bruno Sohnle that weren't getting a lot of my wrist time.

I've given my watch guy at my local jeweler a Helm and a Studio Underdog. He is a great pal when I ask him to size and swap bracelets for my (many) new watches and he also authenticates when I buy any pre-owned ones from different sources. He always does this for free. I also have purchased a couple pieces from him - a Grand Seiko bamboo and a Breitling Navitimer. Plus some jewelry along the way for my wife.
