Did I make the right decision?

So I have been on a serious hunt for my “perfect” watch for the last few weeks. I’ve been collecting for a few years now and have learned what I personally value in a watch. Naturally I have a few watches that I loved when I first got them but as my journey has continued there are watches that get almost no wrist time because they don’t have the features that I am looking for in a watch.

Things that I love in a watch. 1. Date or preferably a day/date. 2. Arabic numerals for legibility. 3. A lumed rotating timing bezel. 4. Screw down crown for water resistance.

Because of the rotating timing bezel I was originally looking at dive watches but quickly came to realize that it’s kind of rare to find a dive watch with Arabic numerals… kind of odd in my opinion no? So I asked on here and got some suggestions. The one that spoke to me the most was the Fraser from Stirling Time Pieces.

It pretty much checks all the boxes but I was just having a hard time with the price tag for a quartz watch. So after some more research the Casio Pro Trek 6600 series found me and I kind of fell in love. No rotating timing bezel BUT it still has a digital stop watch (and a plethora of other functions) for under $300. Plus it’s solar powered which is a first for me, but I like the idea of a rarely (if ever) having to change the battery.

So after thinking about it, ultimately I went with the Casio. I have yet to receive it but the only thing I am unsure of is the size. I think it’s something like a 51mm watch haha! That sounds HUGE but we will see how it wears when I receive it.

Got it off of Amazon so at the end of the day it’s an easy return if it’s not for me.

What do you guys think about this Casio or does anyone on here have any experience with it? Do you think I made the right choice 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Will definitely update once I receive it on Tuesday!!!

I personally love the pro-trek as well. Though the size has always stopped me from buying it. I have heard good things about Stirling as well, but have no personal experience with the brand. I’d be curious to see how you find the pro-trek when you get it!

Curious, what's your wrist width? Plus, what's your wrist circumfrence and case diameter preference?

I have a wrist size slightly over 6.5 inches! So definitely not a huge wrist but I tend to like bigger watches. I have a Seiko 5 field watch that is 38mm and it’s great but definitely feels small for me even though on paper that probably around where I should be. I also tried on a 42mm Seiko diver (one of my posts) and thought it was a great size. At this time that’s the largest watch I’ve even tried on tho.

This morning's 50mm wide all-face AE1500 on my 6.5" wrist circumfrence and i have a 48.2mm wrist width.

It swallows up my entire wrist. Some people on here like this look. Its all personal preference. I feel its big.

The Seiko you mentioned is like a shorter Lug to Lug, many Seikos divers are. My guess is the Pro Trek will wear big but at least you can wear it first and see if u like it.

I'm all over the place and love the variety, I usually wear smaller watches but Ive been wearing larger watches as of late.

I don't know the exact sizes, but I have a few Pro-Treks and 6.5 inch wrist. They're large but I like them and you can't beat the functionality. Leagues above the G-Shocks in my opinion.

I also wanted the specs you were looking for but couldn't find much. I considered getting the Fraser as well. I ended up making my own.

It's a Frankenseiko with a SNK381 dial, stock SKX007 case and bracelet, NH36 movement, arrow hands, Arabic day, and lumed Arabic date. I got everything from ebay.

Agreed.

Protrek is always a better choice for a number of reasons....

6.5" wrist here.

Just to add some more options there is the Tornek-Rayville Blakjak, Marathon GSAR and SSNAV, and the Winfield stuff.

Granted some are above the price wanted, but solid watches nonetheless. And the fibershell Marathon has been issued as field watches since the 80's.

The Blakjak is a modern take on the Sandy 550/Gallet/ADANAC.

I was looking into the Marathons but I can’t get over the date in between the 4 and 5 🤮 lol there is just something I hate about that for some reason. I like my dates at the 3!

Sorry forgot Protrek wrist shot.
