The Speedy Pro 1863’s bracelet tapers too much!

It’s the small things that matter in this hobby so I’ve decided that 20mm lug to lug tapering down to a 15mm clasp is too extreme for me. The 5mm taper accentuates the Speedy Pro’s 42mm case size and makes it look bulbous my 18cm wrist. Although not quite as good quality as the original bracelet, Uncle Seiko’s President-style bracelet (pictured) now gives my Speedy a much more balanced wrist presence. Am I committing horological sacrilege?

I like the exaggerated taper of the OEM bracelet and, especially, the style of the clasp. I can see how it's not for everyone though. I'm glad we have so many options from the likes of Uncle Straps and Forstner.

Is yours the one that slightly tapers in width, thickness, and link length as it approaches the clasp? I think I tried one of those on a First Omega in Space I no longer own, and it was pretty cool.

The Uncle Seiko bracelet tapers from 20mm to 16mm. The clasp itself is also more substantial than the OEM at 18mm although missing the stripping (which I also like). Oddly, I went for a new Speedy 1863 because I liked the look of the bracelet over its predecessors. But, in the end, it wasn't for me.

That's what I like about it! Matches my v-shaped herculean torso haha . . . yeah, no . . . the only six pack I have is in my fridge.

Send it to me for inspection.😂

It’s fine

I think it depends if you want your watch to feel a little larger or a little smaller. To me, bands with little to no taper make the whole thing appear a little bigger. I prefer taper because it has the opposite effect and I think it just looks nicer.

It’s a weird one. I like taper too (I have other bracelets that don’t taper and they feel like a cuff) but, in this instance, 20mm/15mm seems to exaggerate the Speedy’s 42mm case making it look even bigger. I’ve decided that 42mm is as big as my 18cm wrist can handle.
