Traded it a few months ago for an Omega Seamaster 300 Heritage diver - much more my speed. I’ve put my experience with the SBGY009 down as an expensive mistake in my watch collection journey. GS is great, but not for me.
Exactly! My comment to him was “Yeah, like cars. You’ve really got to love the customization to justify the investment. You won’t see your money back.”
I don’t disagree. The first watch I ever modded was a FF homage from a SNZH55. I’m a fan of the brand and think these Swatch FF pay respect to their history. Bulovas, Alpinas, Seikos etc are fine but not my cup of tea 🫖
Fair enough. Personally, I’d much rather spend ~$400 on one of these than a G-Shock. The latter are super practical and robust, but I don’t get ‘the fizz’ when wearing one.
Agreed. What prompted the post that I was genuinely surprised by how much I liked the Swatch FF once I got it on the wrist. I’d convinced myself it was another corporate cash grab. I think the reality is more nuanced than that. Somebody got excited putting this concept together. There is flair and passion in its design - it’s not a straight copy. I also respect that they continued the tradition that there’s never going to be a quartz Blancpain. But like you say, each to their own - the best thing about horology and watch collecting :)
