Squale 1545 GMT VNTG

Hey y’all! I got myself an early birthday present. This is the Squale 1545 GMT. This is my first GMT and my first Squale and im in love. What drew me to it was the colors used and the size.

From the dark grey faded dial, to the vintage patina lume and 24hr markers on the bezel. This married my interest for a vintage styled/looking watch with a modern technology.

This raises an interesting point for me. I know this is a bit of a homage (being heavily inspired by the GMT Master II but I also see the colors of the Seamaster 007 as well). Squale has history with the likes of Blancpain and others, being a casemaker for these dive watches for a while before getting into the watch game. Do you think this lends to credibility of these designs being more then just a homage?

I know for me I dont have a problem with homages (Copies are a different story), especially being 26 and early in my career both as a designer and a watch collector. But some value the originality of a new design. But I wanna ask y’all, what is the line for you?

I think it’s ok as long as credit is given to the original, which you have done. In the end, it’s a cool watch by itself.

The only line is the one you impose. No one cares about the watches we wear and you don't need to preface your watches with a disclaimer. It says Squale on the dial. Let folks form their own opinions.
