Neo-Vintage Oris BC3 7534

Hey y’all! Just bought this beautiful vintage (to me) example of the Oris BC3 in 42mm. I was about 8 years old when this was in production and i only just found out about its exhistance last year. I tried to do some research on it but i couldnt find to much information on it. My understanding is they made a 40mm and 42mm with two subtle design changes on the dial and water resistance changes. I decided to pull the trigger on it last month and I’ve been loving it ever since.

What do you think about the BC3 and Oris as a brand?

The Oris name is in our family, and although unrelated to the brand, that reason alone has endeared it to me.

What a clean, nice-looking piece! 👍

My mom purchased a diver for me in the 1960s from a drug store operated by a family friend who must have been an enthusiast to stock a few Oris along with a selection of Timex and Bulovas in his shop. I was too young to appreciate thoughtful presents and ruthlessly trashed the gift when I was in high school. A few years ago, Oris decided to deliver the Diver 65 back to the marketplace with an unregulated Selitta movement that did not escape the notice of critics on YouTube who lectured that Oris needed to at least regulate the off the shelf movement. I bought the Diver 65 to test the service at a multi brand ad that retails Oris to FP Journe was pleased with both the watch and the boutique. The timekeeping is surprisingly accurate even if winding the movement feels suspect.

Thats amazing how life works, im happy the newer Diver 65 find its way in your collection! And you are right about the movement, the man i bought mine from said he had only serviced his watch once, but it keeps great time and the winding feels like im starting a vintage car lol

ORIS is hands down one of the best sleeper brands in the industry. If you know, YOU KNOW.

Fortunately, the only ORIS service provider in America is a 5-minute drive from my house. So I do ALOT of window shopping.

Congrats on your purchase!

I'm saving for a BNIB Carl Brasher Diver 65 Caliber 401. I'm still haggling at the price, but I'll pull the trigger once I get them down to around 2,200. It's an incredible watch, and the bronze is almost like a rose gold in person.

That bronze case looks amazing! I love the contrast of the dial and case, its dynamic and has flare to it!

The BC3 I can respect as a design stand point for sure. I don’t know to much about the specs but Oris as a company 💯. Although not for me per say I could definitely respect this model.

Its a different take on a pilots watch. I know what drew me into this piece was its close resemblance to a field watch. The numerals arent super large and with everything on the dial preportioned the way it is i thought it was a great mix of the two watch styles. The closest watch i can relate this to still in production is the longine spirit in 39mm. Looks great as a field watch and as a dedicated pilots watch 🔥
