It seems like that Chinese sweatshops learned how to make aventurine dials

The title says it all.

You know the moon phase is a CW, made in Switzerland right? And that CW uses the same suppliers as luxury brands as well?

You just fell for the “Swiss made” meme, congrats.

To clarify: it’s absolutely impossible to manufacture an affordable, well-made watch in Western countries without any "Far East" suppliers. I'm not saying the watches are bad, by any means. I just think it's unfair to deceive your customers by saying something is made in Switzerland/any Western country when it’s not. It’s better to be honest like the Autodromo guys, who acknowledge that their watches are made in China, than to be a straight-up liar like some brands out there (CW, for instance).

Bold of you to assume I didn't know what it means before posting.

You have any proof for your sweatshop claim, or is it just speculation based on your personal biases? Also, any proof that Chinese factories producing watches are sweatshops at all?

No, I’m just speculating. I don’t have any proof or anything like that, but there are some clear pieces of evidences of what I said. Isn’t it interesting that all of a sudden a lot of microshitters started to make aventurine dials? Also, if you search a little bit, you will find the exact same Serica or CW watch in AliExpress. There’s a lot of YouTube/forums content about it.

I honestly don’t think it’s just a trend. Hear me out: how long does it takes to develop/design a new watch? I know very little about how watchmaking actually works, but I don’t believe it’s just that easy/fast.

Unless they are made in the same factory, and that's my main point. Not only in the same factory or complex, but they are also manufactured in the same country. I'm pretty sure a small microbrand, like some of the ones I've mentioned, couldn't afford to make an aventurine dial in Switzerland. It's much more likely that a "big" microbrand manufactures their watches in China rather than the other way around, even when the dial is labeled as "Swiss Made". I simply don't believe in that bs.

I hear what your saying, maybe ill do more research see if theirs any sort of foulplay as u say but for now ill just stick to trusting the brand and the companys reveiwing these brands and company’s certifying them. Good topic though!

Yeah, I’m too skeptical about the world nowadays. It ain’t easy to live and think like that, but at the end of the day I think I’m probably right. Don’t trust the government; that’s a good starting point.

Where’s the link to these watches?

I’ve handled lots of CW’s they have lots of contrasting finishing on the case. It’s not cheap to manufacture watches this way, even if you own the factory. I would be surprised if these Ali express clones are of the same quality….

Also, you realize that aventurine is a type of crystal that is very rare and expensive...So what we’re looking at is just glass with flakes or some type of oxide in it. There was no code that these sweatshops needed to crack, they just did it, it’s not hard you just make glass….however, as you demonstrated with your pictures, clearly there are degrees of quality.

Yes Swiss made is kind of a joke, what is it 60% by cost of goods? Which makes it easy to get around because you just manufacture the expensive stuff in Switzerland and outsource the rest. However, that doesn’t mean that all microbrands that are labeled swiss made are a joke or that parts made outside of Switzerland aren’t quality….

Besides, I don’t think people care about Swiss made anymore. Hell most people don’t care about watches anymore 🤷

·

I think there's a lot to break down. All I can say if China can manufacture every piece of tech in the world. Watch making would be a breeze for them with their eyes close... sweatshops? I doubt it. That's more for clothes like Shein, Aliexpress and many counterfeit goods. Obviously I don't think they ever wanna compete with A. Lange or Patek that would bring zero profits unless a replica.

·

This type of speculation isn’t a good look. Just going to keep it at that.

You can't say he is wrong on the second part though. They do use the same suppliers as luxury brands.

Depends on what you consider luxury. If tissot and other entry level swatch brands, of course. If Rolex, Breitling and other more high-mid tier brands, no. For instance, do you have any update on the bracelet? I hadn’t received yet.

It’s not as simple as this. Watchmaking, unlike tech-goods, requires a lot of effort in finishing and other meticulous details. The market for real watchmakers is a lot more niche. It was a hyperbole when I said “sweatshops “, although not that far distance from reality. Also, it’s a know fact that some of the same factures that make watches for AliExpress are suppliers for “microbrands”.

It’s still just speculation, you can’t tell much from those pics. Even if the clone come from the same factory, that doesn’t mean they’re the same.

Even with the rip off of the serica, not the same quality. The printing and markers clearly lower quality.

I don’t understand what the point of all this is….

So what Swiss made doesn’t mean shit? I don’t think anyone has said otherwise since the 70s….

Yes you can get something that is almost as good for a fraction of the price but with a different label. So what? That’s the same with every industry

It’s like you’re complaining just to complain and you don’t even know what you’re saying. 🤷

Please read my comments again. I’m just saying that it’s objectively WRONG how brands like CW acts. It damages those that are honest with their customers, even when their products are made in China, like the refereneced Autodromo, or those that tries to compete making their products in Switzerland/other Western country.

Stop being such a fanboy and accept that all the evidence shows that they are lying to all of us, whether you like it or not.
