Two Watch Rotation

I have more watches than these, but I’ve been wearing these two almost exclusively lately. The Seiko for the office, the Omega for everything else. I’m not in many formal dress situations to need a dress watch nor do I do any manual labour to need a tough beater watch. Maybe an inexpensive travel watch might round out my ideal 2-3 watch rotation (rather than collection).

Does anyone want to share their rotations or have a sugges tion for a nice but inexpensive travel watch? By travel I don’t just mean GMT, but something for the airport/plane and going places where I don’t want to have to worry about losing or damaging the watch. You can get a sense of what I like from these two watches in my rotation, but I’m open to any interesting suggestions.

Thanks!

Can’t do much better than these two. Nice!

I’d say Longines Spirit Zulu Time since I have the 42mm version and it’s a great watch. Nice but not too flashy or super high end. So you probably won’t have to worry about anyone but a watch nerd recognizing it. But if you don’t want to have to worry about losing or damaging it, then go with the Casio worldtimer. Not sure of the exact model name.

If I had a planet ocean on my nightstand, it’d be my grab and go weapon in case of an intruder. I swear these things could be used to hammer nails.

To answer your question, I think this is where microbrands and smaller companies come into focus for me. I was on a work trip in Lisbon recently and brought along my Baltic.

Everyone’s situations are different, but for me personally, Baltic is reasonably priced and a watch I could likely replace if it was stolen without much trouble. It’s not hard to get or discontinued. Where it shines though is in being a bit of an “if you know you know” watch. You’ll not get any negative attention off the back of it when travelling (or at least I didn’t) but you could still get the occasional “Hey nice watch, I’ve wanted to see one of these” at the airport.

Those 220x series POs are an underrated gem! I'm a little biased though (I have a 2200.50).

For a travel watch I would go a couple of directions.

For a lower cost option I would go with the Traska Venturer. Has the Miyota 9015 with the independent hour hand which is handy for travel. Traska's scratch resistant coating that they add to their watches is also highly regarded.

A more pricey option but still below the Zulu mentioned above you could grab a Christopher Ward. They use the Sellita 330 so it is an office GMT but if that doesn't bother you there are a bunch to choose from. You can choose from the C63, C60 or C65. Just depends on the look you are going after.
